Memorial Day
United States Marine Corps War Memorial, Nikon N8008, Kodak Ektachrome 400
These photographs were taken by my father during a family trip to Washington DC in 1993. He is the kind of photographer who always shot slide film. A few years ago I dedicated several months to individually scanning each and every slide he saved. This process gave me access to fantastic images and memories like these (I will share more in the future). There may be better photographs taken at these locations but, to me, these mean the most.
On this Memorial Day, let us remember and honor the servicemen and women for whom these memorials (and others like them) were erected. Sacrificing their lives to defend our country is a heroism we must not forget. I invite you all to take time today to reflect with me on the magnitude of their selflessness, and how significantly it impacts the lives we are able to enjoy.
